High School Play Sparks Objections

— Did they kiss or did they not kiss?

That is the question and the controversy about a scene in a student-directed play performed last week at Stone Bridge High School that has some in the community, including a state delegate and two county supervisors, up in arms.

Kissing scenes are not unusual in high school plays except that the two actors were both male students and that upset Del. Richard Black (R-32) enough that he fired off a press release calling upon citizens to turn out at tomorrow’s school board meeting to voice their objections to one of five vignettes that were part of Postcards from Paradise that opened Thursday, Feb. 3 for a three-day run that ended last Saturday. Black did not actually see the play; he got involved from Richmond.
