The school board legislative policy committee did not adopt a proposed new policy on “theatrical productions” during its meeting last week but had the policy under discussion been in place at the beginning of February, the controversial student-written play at Stone Bridge High would not have been performed.
That play, “Offsides,” a mini-production presented with five other plays as part of a montage called Postcards from Paradise during the weekend of Feb. 3-5, which stirred a controversy in the county when two boys supposedly kissed on stage in a production which dealt with a young man coming to terms with his homosexuality. Aaron Henry, one of the actors in the pivotal scene said the boys did not kiss.
