Marriage Affirmation Act draws activists’ ire

FAIRFAX, Va. – As the sun set over Fairfax’s government center, the demonstrators, carrying banners and “Virginia is Not for Lover”‘ signs, walked toward the protest site in groups of three or four. But one man stood out among the diverse group of 1,100 people, gathered together and galvanized by a new Virginia ban on civil unions – a man most would never expect to see at a rally of this sort, and especially not in uniform.
