Here’s our follow up to the Loudoun Times-Mirror article exposing the “Public Advocate” hate letter that the Weekly Standard and Pruden & Politics, both conservative media outlets, apologized for allowing to slip through their respective vetting processes. Both Equality Loudoun and Too Conservative reported that the long comment thread was suddenly closed and all comments deleted; a call from the Times-Mirror revealed that this action was taken due to the “vulgarity” of some Delgaudio defenders.
The online version of the article “Gay rights group slams Delgaudio email” (January 17) was headlined “Delgaudio: ‘Human Rights Campaign can’t silence me,’” indicating Mr. Delgaudio’s belief that civil rights organizations want him to stop expressing himself. To the contrary, we want more people to become aware of his defamatory lies, statements designed to raise money for himself by inflaming hatred toward others and creating a threatening climate – demonstrated further by the fact that comments to the online article had to be closed and deleted for their vulgarity. We want everyone to understand exactly why Mr. Delgaudio is morally unfit to hold office, and to hold accountable those who give him political and financial support.
