Statement of Community Levee Association of Loudoun County

As a Loudoun County property owner and, more importantly, as one who has often offered my opinions in support of traditional marriage, I felt compelled to comment on the recent destruction of property in Aldie, owned by two men living together in a homosexual relationship.

In no uncertain terms I, and those supporting marriage with whom I work, condemn all violence against those with differing views.

Everyone, whether in the majority or minority regarding a particular issue, must be allowed to hold and argue their own beliefs and feel secure in their person and property while doing so.

I am saddened by the destruction of property and sincerely hope, and will work to this end, that this is not a harbinger as November approaches. It is heartening, however, to also read of the outpouring of support the victims have felt since the attack. I sincerely wish Messrs. Drummond and Ellis success in reclaiming their property as it was.

- Chris Stevenson, President, Community Levee Association of Loudoun County
