I went to see the new movie, Milk, today with friends who happen to be lesbians. I left the movie carrying a bag of shame. My hope is that everyone will see the film and that it will change the world. I fear it will preach to the choir. I am glad the film is out there in mainstream theaters for all to see.

Thanks, jan. I thought Milk was outstanding – even more so now, having seen the documentary. Just very true to the events, amazingly timely, and not melodramatic at all. People should make a point of taking friends who otherwise might not to see it. It’s also somewhat entertaining to watch the anti-gay industry folks try to keep people from seeing it. I may have to do some reviews of their reviews.

    Why the bag of shame?

I went to see “Milk” nearly two weeks ago and was blown away. What a tremendous film. It gave me a glimpse of what was going on in the 1970s, but it was also very current. Every performance was amazing, but I was especially impressed by Sean Penn. He simply embodied Harvey Milk.

I also wrote a review at my blog.
